We have an exciting opportunity with a top company in Richmond, VA. Our client is a worldwide leading manufacturer, has an immediate opening for an R&D Data Acquisition / Software Engineer. They are expanding business and growth continues to require us to add new positions throughout our company worldwide.
The primary function of this role is to design and support internally developed software used to control systems for R&D test stands and develop processes and methods used to conduct research on our products. The selected candidate will possess knowledge and software skills using Visual Studio with VB, C# and WPF. The qualified candidate will have familiarity with data acquisition software, signal interfacing, and noise analysis is preferred along with knowledge of electrical design, power requirements, sensors, control logic, electrical troubleshooting and safety implementation related to engine test cells, dynamometers, and vehicle testing.
Responsibilities:
Support internally developed data acquisition software for existing and new test stands.
Communicate with customers to develop and calculate control algorithms.
Support PLC, motor drives and related data acquisition hardware associated with software.
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years of experience developing control and data acquisition software using Visual Studios, VB, C#, WPF, MVVM = model-view-ViewModel and Siemens Portal Software.
Hybrid role electrical / mechanical engineer data acquisition.
BS degree in Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience with electrical; power controls, cabinets, software.
Understanding of Controls, electrical-mechanical devices
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity of Engine test cells.
Outstanding communication skills and ability to effectively translate needs into a product that integrates with existing systems. This role is required to effectively interface with researchers and business leaders to determine operational needs and develop “best practices” approaches that will integrate effectively with R&D and corporate system architecture.
Experience developing control and data acquisition software Experience with electrical schematics and electromechanical devices.
Ability to learn and understand practical applied aspects of Chemical R&D testing.
Troubleshooting skills and basic understanding of all electrical disciplines.
Understanding of testing, data analysis, and techniques used to interpret and present test data.
